Just a question to hard-out painters here, tablets make digital painting easier ne? I always wanted one but my parents... <_< (i should just get one and hide it. lol)

PS - i'm not much of a painter so I wouldn't know much, but candy's definition sounds right to me. ^_^;

Quote by starrliteangelSo this group is basically for wallpapers that have a painted-look style? what about digital painting? is that the same thing?

The following is my personal opinion and may not be the absolute truth:
Well normally what has a painted look is in fact a form of what we call digital painting. Digital Painting is anything that is painted with digital tools such as programs like Corel Painter, Open Canvas or Adobe Photoshop, with the help of a mouse or a graphic tablet. Some styles are rather realistic-looking with extreme care to fine detail. As to other styles are closer to ( I think I can say it) Impressionism, by keeping a very brushy and almost messy feel to it.

Adaptating those defenitions into the anime walling world would mean anything in a wallpaper from a scenic element (mountains, trees, clouds) to recolouring or blending that is achieved by using such tools (mostly the paintbrush/airbrush, smudge & etc) could be called "painty"- Compared to, let's say filters and effects. The degree of "painting" feel to the result can vary a lot, as no one brushes the exact same way, but most of the time we can recognize the style.

As to true Digital Paintings made from scatch (that could englobe any doujin that is minimally CGed with care), well I figured we could acccept most of them in the group even if the technique is not on the same level.

AND I'd love to see what other people think of the issue *hint hint*

So this group is basically for wallpapers that have a painted-look style? what about digital painting? is that the same thing?

for now, I was wondering, what do yall think about me ( and whoever else wants to be admin of the gruop) search through your gallery to add paint-y stuff to the group's gall.? We could later on decide on some kind of voting system like simple-ism for recent works and special highlights. But the group gallery would be bigger and accept anything thats moderately painted from us members. any thoughts?

oh and what I call paint-y is either:
-serious CG business, with ultra-detailing details. Using paint programs like Corel painter and all of that from-scratch.
-Important use of the paintbrush/airbrush and smudge tools in Photoshop to achieve a look that is closer to traditional media.

i'd be cool with it; mostly because in speaking of painter-y type walls looking at how other people do it helps your technique as much as following 100 tutorials, so it'd be nice to see all our painter-y stuff in an organized format.

*arrives late to the party* XD

ooooh! *_*
how about some tutorials for painter? I love and hate the pragram xDD

Eh, I'm not sure of the on-going contest thing either. It sounds like something that would get boring pretty quick. Who knows, maybe it'd be a huge success?

You should have a lot of active members before you go ahead with a contest though... 30 might be too little if there's only about half of them ever checking this page.

actually I have this tutorial for clouds painting I will certainly put up here sometime. Allthough I was waiting for the *SPOILER* new MT feature :D

about contest: I surely won't put a restriction on the number of entries, because yesh this should recruit >D
on making it neverending im not so sure though :/ I mean people would get tired of the theme, no?. Allthough we can have a new contest every 2 months or so, that would be nice.

Having a wide scans gallery sounds nice. What about having a request section?

Oh, just am idea about contests. Like flyin said, keep it long. Maybe we could just have it running all the time and make selections with whatever we've got on a regular basis like once a month or something. But I dunno how many entries we'll get that way.

PS - don't expect hard out paint work from me. I gotta learn first. lol

I'm pretty much go with any of your ideas candy~ you lead, and I shall follow. Unless something sounds outrageously outrageous.

But yeah just had a bit of a brainwave... contests are always fun. You should start one a bit sooner, but make it a long-ish one and maybe not put a restriction on the number of entries people can submit, 'cause then you can use the contest as recruiting tool :3

*dances in* candy might curse at me if i didnt at least check this out :O xD
anywho tis a good group...i'm all for pimping walls that were painted they sure are hard ; 3; that's why i rarely do it!

*whispers* actually everything's hard that's why i wall in spurts xD

I'm all for a paint-y wall/scan gallery... Especially scan, since fitting scans sometimes are terribly difficult to get (or I am too picky). Also, if you need an off-site place to store stuff, I can help out with that.

yay we are now 11 members and the group is not yet one day old! Let's celebrate and.. promote it everywhere <3

when we are about 30~ish I'll start up the contest so we can start walling like furious beasts.

for now, I was wondering, what do yall think about me ( and whoever else wants to be admin of the gruop) search through your gallery to add paint-y stuff to the group's gall.?
