No, those scenes were from a tournament. I doubt that people would be "sandbagging" (to use the communities' term for it).

I was just watching that video up there and i really liked the part at 34 secs - 41 secs since it looks so cool and hard to do what Taj did I also cant help but to suspect that he used human dummies at 3:04, 3:34 and 4:01. Just a figure I guess....

Ugh... that sucks... probably the most annoying thing about AR is entering the codings >.>.

I still dislike zelda..... And guess what. All my ar codes got deleted! including my 6 player melee code! Then thing was 50 something lines long! Along with the code swap one and the one that makes metal boxes act like a POW! All of my codes gone! gone! GONE!

Zelda and Samus are both hard characters to use; the only good moves that Zelda has are FSmash, FAir, and BAir >.>. Samus is a strange character due to the paradox that she is one of the heaviest characters in the game and also one of the floatiest. That and the fact that she has many projectiles >.>.

By the way, don't forget to comment on my matches on YouTube! Match 2 is a video response to the first one >.>. (Look up metroid1117 and Marth.)

I for one HATE Zelda! She needs to die! In my record thingy it states I only played her once. Shes the smash sap.... Sumas is up next but I do tend to use her when im exsperimenting or just being retarted.

all i got to say is zelda kicks BUTT! in this game..
well actually when she turn into sheik then she KICKS some MAJOR BUTT

Quote by AlfonseSo is that how you do it? Maybe I'll practice up on shining on Illusion/Phantasm like that. Thanks for the tip.
And I've noticed that about Falco's Falcofire, I find it kind of odd that it doesn't protect 'im at all. o_O

And nope, I don't use X or Y, I thought I told you this before...<.<
But yeah, I'm used to short hopping with the control stick, and I'm pretty good at it. xD I just never got used to using the buttons for jumping is all. So I guess I'm an oddball for that, because none of my friends use the control stick to jump, they all use the buttons. xD
Have you never met anyone who uses the control stick rather than the X's or Y's? o.o
Oh and a quick question.
I dunno if you've played melee this long before...but, I've been extremely bored a couple of times, and all I do is play melee.
And those times I played Melee, I played till I got to 256 kills. I kept playing afterwards...and the game would no longer count up any more kills. <.< It stayed stuck at 256, and I was wondering if you've ever had that happen to you or if you've ever played Melee that much to get to the 200s at all.

That's weird >.>... I can't imagine not shorthopping without X or Y. Anyway, that's weird about the 256 kills... I've never gotten past 200 before, let alone 256.

So is that how you do it? Maybe I'll practice up on shining on Illusion/Phantasm like that. Thanks for the tip.

Timing the shine isn't that hard; a good way to practice the timing is trying to shorten the Illusion/Phantasm by pressing B while they're traveling; it's roughly the same timing, only slightly easier because Shine's hitbox is bigger than it looks, especially the back portion for some reason. Also, you might know this already, but Falco's Falcofire startup (the part where he's surrounded in flames) doesn't protect him at all. In fact, you can use Jigglypuff and Rest him if he tries it.

You don't use X or Y to shorthop? o_0...

I see, so do you use Marth more often than Fox?
Because it's the other way with me, I use Fox more often than Marth. And I'm not so great at chainthrowing with Fox either, I can find times where I can do it well but I can't keep it consistent. I also have a somewhat difficult time shinespiking people out of Fox Illusion/Falco Phantasm. So kudos to you for being able to do that. n_n

So is that how you do the DAir thing from the edge? Well, I never use the X's or Y's if you couldn't remember. xD Just use the control stick. That's probably why I have a hard time; I can do it if I do it fast though. <.<
Anyway, I hope to see a Fox video from you sometime in the near future. Maybe then I could critique some more. xD

Actually, my Fox isn't as good as my Marth >.>. I can't waveshine as consistently as I want to, and I'm not that good at chainthrowing. I can shinespike people out of Fox Illusion / Falco Phantasm though :D.

Also, the edgehopped DAir to spike people from the edge isn't that hard; just smash down on the control stick and roll your thumb over Y and A to quickly jump and spike. The way I timed it in the video wasn't that hard either; all I did was grab the edge right before he used up+B so that I would be invincible :P.

Your friend's lucky to have the Wii. I'm flippen short on money. >.<
I probably won't get it till SSBB comes out though.
Oh yeah, I checked out those vids. Really nice stuff Lin. And that alternate Ken combo was nice. I actually thought I was the only one who used it like that. <_< But turns out I'm not the only one who can think up stuff like that. And you've got it down far better than me. :\
I really can't point out much, because most of those people in Smashboards pointed it out already, you Dair'd a lot. But was really useful. I'd say if I were to fight you...I'd get pwnd. x_x
Your Marth is definitely a bajillion x's better than mine. I have a difficult time edgehopping and doing the dair from there. And I also have a difficult time ledge-dashing.
Maybe I should play with Marth more often. xD
And I'd hate to see how good you are with Fox. x_x I bet you own with him too. Maybe you should upload some videos with your Fox. That'd be nice.
And sorry, not much criticism, but I ain't a pro, so I wouldn't be able to critisize much.

Quote by AlfonseI've returned.
And it seems like nothing new has really been going on.
By the way Lin, I've tried that thing with Jigglypuff and Marth.
I haven't managed to pull it off, but I do fall onto the ledge. But Marth still happens to get back onto the platform. I tried to make it work with my friend, but he kept making it back, and we couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong.
And to make sure, does marth need to be coming from an angle or from a certain spot to make it work?
And ONE more question, is it possible to play Melee on the Nintendo Wii? Or will the online gameplay be only available to the new SSBB. And does that come out on February?
Well that's more than one question but whatever.
Also, before I forget, Happy Thanksgiving to all. n_n

My friend has a Wii and he says that SSBM runs with no lag at all. I'm not sure if you're going to be able to go online with it though >.>. I'm pretty sure that it's been rescheduled to come out in May.

Actually, I don't really use the lightshield edgehog when I'm going for Sing -> Rest; I just do it when they barely make it to the stage or when they're edgeguarding sloppily.

Oh yeah, check out this Smashboards thread. I'm metroid1117. Criticism is appreciated :).

cool supersmash bros meele

Hey everyone, long time no see. Today I decided to pop up out of no where and see how everyone was doing. These days I have been playing a lot of Dead or Alive 4, trying to go pro, but I have been playing melee as well. I have my wavedash down really nicely now and im working on intercepting with my two main chars Marth and Gannon. Anyway just saying all that and ill try to start posting again, cya all around.

I've returned.

"This is sad no one post in here anymore...."

Quote by ElegantsThis thing under my post is almost impossible to do my char. keeps flying off the stage! That or the shied brakes and she dies!

You'll go flying off the stage if you're pushed when you lightshield with Jigglypuff, and you'll die if your shield breaks >.>. The point of this is to do it when an opposing Marth is trying to recover; roll back all the way to the edge and lighshield by holding Z during your roll to the edge, then tilt "away" on the control stick. Don't do it otherwise >.>. An alternate way is to just simply grab the edge a split second before they do and use the 30 frames of invulnerability (1/2 of a second) to avoid their attack.

This thing under my post is almost impossible to do my char. keeps flying off the stage! That or the shied brakes and she dies!

Hey guys... I need you to do me a favor. Due to my restriction of playing time, I can't test out this new theory I have on why Jigglypuff is the best character to intercept Marth with. What I need someone to do is to test out whether Jigglypuff can light-shield edgehog Marth.

What is a light-shield edgehog? Well, it's simple, actually. The lightshield is the shield that looks transparent and covers your character's entire body. To activate it, you can either press Z as hard as you want (you'll have to wait for the grab animation to end) or press L/R lightly. The lightshield edgehog works like this:

1) Run to the edge of the stage
2) Roll backwards towards it while holding R/L so that you'll be as far on the edge of the stage as possible with your lightshield on
3) While holding R/L, gently tilt the control stick backwards off the stage; your character should lean in that direction
4) When you get hit by an attack, you'll fall off the stage and grab the edge

Now, the idea of the lightshield edgehog is that if your enemy is recovering with an attack like Marth's where they poke edgeguarders before grabbing the edge, you can always do this to them and edgehog them 100% of the time if they don't make it onto the stage. Another example of a character like this would be Roy and Kirby. HOWEVER, there is a catch: your character will only fall as fast as they naturally fall from the air, and if you hold down when you're off the stage, you won't grab the edge.

Now, my idea is that if Jigglypuff can lightshield edgehog Marth (which is what I need one of you guys to try out), then one of two things will happen: a) you'll edgehog the Marth or b) Marth will make it onto the stage and suffer horrendous lag-time. Now, you can punish this by edge-canceling Sing (you can grab the edge during Sing and cancel the lag) to put Marth to sleep, and then after that, get on the stage and Rest him! X-P You don't even need to go out and intercept him; that's the beauty of this tactic ;).

BUT, it will only work if you can lightshield edgehog Marth with Jigglypuff. May someone be as kind enough to test that for me ? ^_^'

Also, if you want to see what a lightshield edgehog looks like, watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuhoczYSlMk.

EDIT: It's Oct. 31, people! Happy Halloween! :D By the way, I found this great thread for videos for whenever you get bored: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=84888

LIGHTSHIELD EDGEHOG -> EDGE-CANCELED SING -> REST IS A SUCCESS!

YAY! another member! Please stay active!

Yo Im hear

OK!

for the first one: I use Princess Peach and Fox. I like Princess Peach because 1 shes a girl and 2 because she has the ability to stop herself from falling in mid air and moves that are exstreamly easy to combo with. One of my combos and the one I use the most is this one:

A A DownA DownA Grabup Smashup Smashup Grab(and I throw them the way closest to the ledge.)

That combo normaly kills the opponent if not I float low to the ground and meteor attack them and that definatly kills them.

Now Fox. I just like Fox I rock with him most of the time but often fall of the ledge while trying to shinedash with him. I have to learn how to stop that but it comes natrally. But when it dose it kills me so I really got to stop that!
