Barren Glory isn't as easy as it looks like. And so are the other "you
win" enchantments. They all have some loopy trigger you have to work your
deck to accommodate, plus, the opponent can just counter or destroy the
enchantment. The "make enemy lose" cards are also difficult. Phage has
to be played manual casted, then has to damage a player in combat. Door to
nothingness has a turn delay and one hell of a mana cost. Basically, alternate
win conditions are there to give variation to the game.
Thank you . You know, I thought about this card when I saw various instants and
enchantments that let you win just like that under some condition. I think that
extremely strong cards can be OK, since we have officialy indestructible
creatures, but things like "if you control no other permanents than
"barren glory", you win the game" are too easy.
Anyway, I came up with a new rule: War Cry X - this rule applies to most
commander unit - when you are using War Cry, other creatures gets +X/+X, where X
is level of the War Cry (let's say it's from 1 to 5, like Bushido).
I am working on a new card with this rule .
@Ender
Thought you should know, "A cunning plan" has it's uses. Seriously.
Can't be Decked out. Can't Die due to poison counters or to a card that says you
lose. lol.
A card for good measure:

It's unfortunately back to the grind for me. Hard to think up cards when you
have to think up for your next exam. I have no guarantees, but I get a sudden
unge to make one, I'll try. Can't stick to themes though. Don't let the group
die.
Well... Too bad the group went almost copletely silent... I am making a large
set of new cards, maybe this will get you more active .
Anyway, do you know that now it is closer and closer to the day of release of
the tenth edition of Magic: The Gathering? I will try to keep you informed,
since I found an official page of Wizards of the Coast .
Theme accepted (AT LAST so,meone noticed that group is alive ) let
us make cards with characters from flash (ANY characters, no matter if it's from
game, movie, original, just that it have to be depicted in FLASH animation). Get
to making cards!
No problem, I'll wait till all of you have dome free time and we'll decide then
the next week's theme. Until then, it's freestyle - any cards will be welcomed.
It's too bad the rules text won't fit, but reminder text can be omitted in
special cases, or when it's not in a new set. usually the new abilities don't
feature too many things to fit in the ability+reminder text. but subsequent
releases don't include the reminder any more.
Where are the people. This is too much of a literal DIalogue.
Working on a card. Will post it once it's done.
Fate/Stay Night's Rider:
Nice rules ^^. But I tried it and wouldn't fit onto EVA cards (this time really
too much text...) so I'm gonna use it in some future works .
Anyway, you're right, where is everyone?
If you meant supply, that's something I made up. Hehe. It basically templates
the need for a power source. I don't want the reminder text to be too cramped,
so the ability for getting an equipment piece is separate, similar to my power
shield wording and getting more shield counters as separate from the keyword.
This allows some flexibility to it.
Vanishing is one of the newer mechanics in magic. It's basically:
Vanishing X (this comes into play with X time counters on it. At the beginning
of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When you remove the last,
sacrifice this) ex. Vanishing 3.
I have school on weekdays, so I'll see what I can dig up for freestyle week. And
U hope to see other people in the guestbook too.
No, this is very good that someone at last states his opinions. As for the Eva
and stuff, I must say that I am not familiar with the newest mechanic, so if you
don't mind, please explain them to me (and everyone else, if someone don't know
too).
As for the Power Shield, I think it is a good idea so I've updated new rules.
The week theme. Sorry, It's your turn (all of you) to suprise me. It's Freestyle
week!
On the eva cards, it might be a bit wordy, small font and all, but it does cover
everything for the eva. No need to say the card can't be played w/o the pilot,
just leave the penalties of not having one. Power shield as an A.T. field should
be fine.
For the cord, its a bit difficult to template it. Best I can come up with
is:
When EVA 00x comes into play, put an equipment token named Cord with equip(5)
into play attached to this.
Supply - Cord (When Cord is not attached to
this, put 3 counters on it, and it gains vanishing. When a cord is attached to
this, remove all time counters from it. )
Supply is a drawback keyword that requires certain equipment for a unit to
remain functional. This can also be used with other mechs that require a
constant power source, similar to the cord. In my idea, once a supply equip has
been reattached, vanishing disappears before it removes the counters, if it
doesn't, reattachment would be suicide. This also allows you to
"share" power between units with similar supply equipment, but at the
penalty of a high equip cost.
I think power shield can be worded as:
Power Shield X (This comes into play with X
shield counters on it. If damage would be dealt to this, remove that many shield
counters from this, then prevent 1 damage for each counter removed this
way.) ex. Power Shield 4
As for replenishing a Power Shield, it can be based as an ability, like getting
1 shield counter at the beginning of your upkeep, an activated ability, or other
things. Of course, if it has only 1 counter, and it gets hit for 5, you're going
to use up what's left and take 4.
Ability template from the card "Sekki, Seasons' Guide" and the Graft
mechanic.
Enough about power shield. I'm out of Ideas for a theme right now, I'll leave it
to you. Surprise me.
Sorry about the long rant, lol. opinions, opinions. I just like to try designing
it based on the specifics in your card.
Looks like the attack/ability naming is using a keyword template(reminder text
says what it actually does). I guess it's fine if it makes you feel you have the
character's essence intact. I usually restrict myself to make it fit in actual
magic, if possible, without the sacrifice of flavor. Special attacks can have
their own, instant/ sorcery/ enchantment, if needed.
As for themes, we can now go into more specific territory than just plain anime.
And now, for another card.
Dunno too much about pokemon. I make names for actiwated abilities, because...
It just fit. When it is some legendary card and it's archetype had some cool
attacks, why not put it onto card? Of course, everyone is making their cards as
they think it should look. No one forbids you to make cards without attack
names.
The theme changes every week. So far we had:
- Famous Anime characters
- Famous Games characters
- Big Robots, equipment and stuff.
Theme changes every monday (and monday is based on my time, that means +1 GMT
time zone).
merged: 04-22-2007 ~ 09:44pm
BTW: Normally Magic cards activated abilities sometimes have names too .
What themes did you have so far? And when will the theme rotate? I'll try to get
one more in before then.
And BTW, I feel a bit awkward that most cards with activated abilities have
attack names, like a pokemon card. I guess to each his own, it feels a bit
unnatural, though. Just an opinion.
