But anyway, it's not just howl that im interested in. I think the whole gang of
characters were kinda pieced in so nicely. like the witch of the waste was
really wasted... haha...
then there were many diff kinds of wizardss and witches who had great powers.
Then there was a cute demon- calcifer, which is one of my fav's, the scarecrwo
prince and Mark! hahaha... it's kinda heart warming. Plus i feel that the show
has very deep meaning. i actually had to watch it a few more times to really get
the essence of the story.
to tell the truth i didn't get the whole picture the first time i watched the
show (i nv read the manga too), but after a few times watching it... it totally
caught my heart... Ahhhhh swt.
Aww.. you would still love me then? That's sweet.. ^.^ Yay, I win! :P
No Animax? I though its coverage was until China. 0.o Well, I can't watch it
either because I didn't pay for the Astro package..it's probably for the best..
otherwise, I would never get enough and keep watching. Haha.
Yes there's plenty written by Diana Wynne Jones.. like the Chrestomanci Series,
the Dalemark series, and the stand-alones like Merlin's Conspiracy, Archer's
Goon, The Time of the Ghost, Time City, THe Power of Three etc.
Actually I quite liked that poster of old Sophie and the castle.. very bright
and promising colours and assurance that the art is going to be great. Sophie
peering over her shoulder... but I get why most people wouldn't wanna watch it
with a poster like that..I went over to one of Miyazaki's site and the USA
poster was much more attractive..figures..
Hi LunasGrace! Glad to see some one else here... yes, HMC deserves to be a
favourite, though IMO, I miss Spirited Away..
I love Howl's Moving Castle so much it is my absolute fav movie..besides the
other Studio Ghibli films
I love the animation and the voice actors in both the English and Japanese
version of the movie. I think the film is truly a work of art and anytime I want
a sweet movie to relax with I always choose Howl's Moving Castle.
aozora
we dont get the anime channel on guammmmmmmmm ;_; * * * bawling my eyes out * *
* haha yeah im always around haha ^^ this is like mai home =p hahahaha! i think
maples bin a little buzy but no worries she'll be back =)
oh no uzu's great =D i couldnt figure out wai penguins walking around would be
so great.... i mean... sure theyre cute... but for an hour or two of that stuff
o........ m........ g......... i think i wouldv gone crazy x_X
i liked howl wen he helped sophie escape from thos soldier guys? he wz so sweet
! an
then he had his own agenda (_ _) . . . hahaha!
oh wat other books have jone's ritten?
oh no worries about riting alot =p you kan rite a whole novel [kind of maybe
chapters of a novel?] here an we'll still lvo you ^^ hahaha!
aura
most of the time.... the posters i saw only had the castle half hidden in a
kloud far away on a hill x_X..... it wz so sadd.....
hahaha we'r jus into the guys hahahahahaha !
i like that he still acts like a kid with all his.... pouting and stuff... but i
also like hao he... grew up a little bit an took responsibility for his actions
an..... he wz jus so sweet..... haha ^^ mann if i wz sophie as an old lady... i
think i wouldv taken maiself to the nearest oldfolks home (_ _) . . . hao
depressing......
m.i.a. =p
But really those crazy pengiuns can really get on your nerves sometimes. But I
do think that publicity is kind of a porb in our areas. Maybe it's cos the box
office feels these shows may not be too popular, so they kinda put the posters
in less attractive places or sth. What I feel is that the producer should have
made the posters and ads more featured on the characters. cause in most, they
features like only old sophie, and the castle!?
I mean.. yea, thats the main storyline, but who would get interested to watch a
show about an old lady and castle (judging on the ad's alone.) Those pple who
just walk into the teathres would nv choose such a show, over like penguins or
some other triller movie. More Howl, and magic would have stirred their hearts
more!
But i truely agree with aozo, Howl is really so charismatic.. OMG... he's so
charming with his calm enthics and also has a childish side due to his
vainess..ah.. what a 3D personality... cos he seems so true and not like those
100% princes out there. As for sophie, she has character man.. if i was a 90yr
old women from a spell, i'd probably wallow in sadness, rather then go on a
journey to find someone to help!
Yeah, Japanese stuff doesn't get promoted enough sometimes.. but Astro has that
Animax Channel now, so anime's gaining popularity. And Nodame Cantabile is a
favourite for those who are musicians too..and there are some Malaysian manga
artists now...
Just out of curiosity, are you two (aura and uzu) the only ones who really post
around here? Man, this group needs more love...
Maplerose is the one who accepts members right? Well, I guess she has no time to
check because I'm still an aspirant member only... do I have to wait for the
twenty days trial period thingy to pass or something? Should I ask her? Just
wanna know..
Uzu: you don't mind me calling you that I hope? Well, yes, Happy Feet was more
popular..-_-"". I happened to watch a clip of that and the insistent
tapping really irritated me.. taptaptap taptap tap tip tiptaptaptip tip tip tup
TAPP! Urgh, penguins are cute and all but the tapping killed me. Haha.
Salma (phoenix), Nah I think I will spare this group from my ultra long posts.
. But I
think it's a classic thing; it's always charming to see this so self-efficient
handsome gentleman running up against some trouble with women ( ) and
being 'rescued' by an innocent girl with guts. Haha, it sounds so weird when I
say it like that.. A mysterious aura around the guy always seems to help... or
else why do you think people like guys like say, Cloud Strife from FFVII?
To tell you the truth, I really got attracted to Howl at that scene when he
entered the castle; calmly regarded the strangely tidy scene with Sophie in the
center of it, 'forcing' Calcifer to cook; then like it was nothing at all,
invites Sophie for breakfast. The effortless grace of his fingers when he
cracked the eggs and tossed scraps to calcifer...I know, it's so weird! Most
were going kyaa! at his first appearance but I got interested of him at that
scene..it's probably because his air was more like in the real 1st meeting in
the book; He bumped into Sophie in the streets, calmly and distractedly
apologises and continues on, leaving a somewhat lasting impression on her...and
to his surprise (I think), himself. I was also reminded of the Chrestomanci, one
of Diana Wynne Jone's major characters. He is one cooolll guy! I don't get
fangirly much but still, I am somewhat attracted. o.0
Oops this got long too. Haha. See who can beat me here. :P
YEA... i only saw it when i went to the movies too.. if not, i would not have
even known it even existed! LOL... they should have done a better job
advertiseing it. I only knew of this anime and fell in love with it after
watching it. THEN, i went on the net and finally found trailers and songs from
this show. But well, it was kinda late for the movie ratings... pple had alrdy
missed it.
aozora
oh i no it wznt that big wen it came out in guam either...... / . . \ an the
only few who new about it were.... mostly japanese people..... ^^;; dancing
penguins to spirited away!?!?!?! x_X thats so..... krazy...........
pheno
haku is so totally hott x_X ohhhhhh yr so right! all the guys have like.... this
mysterious secret an they jus seem so much hotter bekuz of it !
aura
sorry... i totally suck at walls.... it took me almost a year to do one... an
wen i finished an saved it.... the pixel stuff went seriously wack an..... it
got uglier ;_; oh it wznt evn screened on guam...... the dvd didnt evn kom out
in a dvd until.... maybe months later x_X too sadd......
m.i.a. =)
Hm, i'm not really good with the drawing stuf and all either, so i can't rely
help! But i do wish there was more art already online so i could make walls and
stuff! hahah... u noe, it's just like all the arts are almost the same here
online... Aehh..
Uzu-Chan:
It wasn't really well recieved in Singapore too.. just screened in the cinema
for like less then a month? But after watching it, alot of pple commented that
they didn't appreciate it at all.. that made me really sad, cos i thought
everything about it was great! even the music.. I was so totally in love with
it, and was estatic when i saw the DVD in stores....
But's it's just weird why most ple dun appreciate it. For me, i thought it was
just wodnerful. maybe it doesn't suit the local taste... and I agree with
aozora, most pple rather watch those stupid penguins or other meaningless
cartoons... ahhh... not deep at all.... =(
yes yes i applied! still not accepted but i sure hope i will be! *sighs*
seriously dreamy...so is haku in spirited away no? howl reminded me tons of
haku. the guys always have some sorta problem involving like some sorta
tyrannical woman or something and then a girl helps them. so cuute! i cant
express it properly. im sure you could through aozora-chan! you with your
amazing essay writing abilities.
Salma (phoenixalcott): Pleeaasseee join! I need a pal here...I didn't bother to
ask beforehand whether or not I could join; I wasn't that polite. Haha. Yup,
Miyazaki's Howl is dreamy; if you've read my comment, you can see that even
Diana Wynne Jones was in love! ^.^
uzamakinoai: I don't know if it was popular in USA but here in Malaysia, the
film wasn't received well at all...I wasn't even sure if there was really a
movie until I found a DVD at a rather small store. And that was it! I didn't
get to buy it either... Japanese animated movies just aren't loved enough here.
Even Spirited Away is almost forgotten by most here. Everyone would rather watch
dancing penguins.. haha.
auraderecca: Yeah, there isn't much art for HMC here, and most of the people who
do make them didn't join this group...Well, I'll try and make something. Life
would be so much easier though if I had a scanner; I can draw but I can't submit
any of them. Well, hopefully, I will be able to get a scanner ...someday...Any
recommendations on how to make a clean scan?
oh my gosh! i love this movie! i just watched it AND I AM OFFICIALLY IN LOVE
WITH IT! i read the book and didnt like it as much...i mean, Howl was too
womanizing in the book. but in the movie, he was just like haku from spirited
away and i LOVE haku! and hes so sweet too! and adorable! could i join?!
but really, there are so little art on HMC, and the other manga that I like,
which is Love Monster. I really wonder where else to get arts. Even if i wanted
to make walls or vectors for the catergory, it's so difficult! Not being able to
draw as well is also such a paiN!
nina
mm... oh does howl's moving castle hav a soundtrack....?
nera
do you still like howl even tho by the end of the movie his hair is black? oh
you no wat was so cool?!?!?! when he koms out of the shower and his hair is
orange but then it gets to be all those shades of violet and purple and then
turns black !
aozora
oh the book is way different from the anime yeah? but both are sooooo good !
m.i.a. =)
Hi! I'm joining this group because well, obviously, I'm a fan of Howl's Moving
Castle!
I liked both the book and the anime though for different reasons. When I first
watched the animated movie, I was wondering where Diana Wynne Jones' name was...
I was kind of worried that she might not like the movie which would be a
shame...but my worries were pointless. Because i found her main website and to
quote:
[the film was "the most exciting film I've seen for a long time. I was
rivetted, and it bears seeing again.
"Miyazaki and I think alike, so when his offer came in I was overjoyed,
because I had admired him for years."]
And:
'Miyazaki came in person, carrying with him a tape of the film, an interpreter
and sundry other shadowy figures (all this was supposed to be secret for fear of
the Japanese media, who then descended on me afterwards, so I couldn't mention
it beforehand) and we had a private showing at the Watershed cinema. The film is
goluptuously splendid with breathtaking animation. I had grown used to young
ladies regularly writing to me to say that they wanted to marry Howl. Now, Howl
in the film is so plain stunning and sexy that I think I have joined them. And
after the showing and the scamper through Bristol I had a long talk with Mr
Miyazaki and it began to seem that we were soulmates.'
So yes; she evidently enjoyed it. Haha. The last quote was a bit hard to find,
though; they moved the page so I had to scamper from fansite to fansite to find
it again. Haha. Why do I waste my time doing that? Just for the heck of it, I
suppose.
Yes, the gallery is kind of empty. I promise I will make something...however, I
might only be able to submit it in December. T.T Real life can be
harsh.
LOL hi lunar.

Howl is so hot! I have a thing for guys with blonde hair!
