You're right there's always a chance but apparently this time russian team will
be against heavy odds.
And unfortunately I dont remember what was going on back in 2002. I was most
likely deep into studies with hardly any time left to watch tv.
Cool so Russia won.... but the bad news is that they'll be facing Holland next
I stayed up till 3am last night but they didnt show the Euro matches here *bangs
head against wall*
vatican92
Right, as I assumed we have 4 hour difference.
Great. At the day of WATANAGASHI (Moscow time) russian team made it to the
quarterfinals. Junjunkesshou nimade susunda yo.
I was absolutely sure our team would lose. For as long as I remember it has
always been a matter of 3 matches in a tournament.
By the way one of my penpals has a birthday today. It's actually a 1\365 chance
to be born this day or even lower assuming the biological factor.
According to the information I recieved, it would be 1:30am (here)
So I'm staying up to watch it..... I mean... if the channels here show the Euro
matches
This will be my first Euro 2008 match that I'll be watching
Is that so? I guess France's morale must be in the garbage can
France lost to Italy once in the 2006 World Cup Finals so that should be
interesting
vatican92
It's at 8.45 pm local time or 10.45 Moscow time. it should alrealy be deep at
night at your place if you're gonna watch it live.
By the way it seems the french team is packing its belongings to leave. I heard
an opinion that they were supposed to have higher chances against Italy.
Sweden is a tough country.... The players I know are Larsson, Ljunberg,
Ibrahamovic and Alexandersson or something like that
I dont watch a lot of Swedish football but as far as I know, they're far better
than Korea
when is it by the way?
I dont know if they show it in this country but I should try looking
actually i'm not watching the Euro 2008 but I'm keeping up with the scores....
especially with Holland since one of my friend (who is Dutch) keeps updating the
score on facebook
few of my favorite players are from Netherlands like van Nistelrooy, Heitinga,
Robben, Huntelaar and Van Persie...
It's hard to believe that Greece won the last Euro
I was sure that Portugal would win...
This year seems to be quite interesting as well except that France seems to be
out already and Italy seems to be in a dangerous position as well along with
Germany who seems to be on the edge...
I guess the big countries arent doing so well this year
b-b,
Speaking of football. They show it live on 2 local channels. In such
circumstances it's hard to keep away from tv despite the fact that I'm in the
middle of the session.
vatican92
Me too, I like very much how team Holland plays. And who could think the french
team would lose so badly. IMO they have awesome players but that didn't
help.
And russian team is traditionally at the losers side. Honestly, our football
team has always been trash. No coach would help. At the same time our hockey
team recently won the world championship.
By the way I also watched a bit of 24 heures du Mans that was broadcast live on
local tv.
Actually all this interferes heavily with my schedule and I need to prepare for
my last exam thoroughly. I'm kind of aiming at the top grade after all.
B-B: No I didn't. I haven't been reading through the older posts and stuff. I
only took a quick glance at the page last night and wrote a reply to everyone.
It's been months since I've last written anything in here.
Yo, B-B: Good to hear you're still going strong. I've been a little lonely
myself. Haha. But yeah, sorry for disappearing all of a sudden. Got caught up
with my life and keeping myself pretty busy. I think everyone is these days.
Nikorai: Lol, I didn't realise it was Friday the 13th, when I came on. xD
Funny, how I left here for awhile and this place is still as friendly and
talkative as ever!
We should just stop
I dont like when discussions go too far
And I'm not too crazy about history or Gorbachev either....
That's basically what happened with the Cuban Missile Crisis isnt it?
US had missiles in Turkey or Bulgaria or something but they told USSR to take
the missiles out of Cuba....
People are crazy enough to destroy the world a million times over
I'm awfully busy but I checked the page out of curiosity and what I see. I see
so many people here. Hello, everyone!
orpheuz, it's like out of the blue. I thought I'd never see you again.
By the way, you all came on Friday 13.

Quote: I still think Gorbachev was
at least somewhat of an admirable leader
Just to let you know he QUIT his post when the situation went out of control.
And I can say that all our leaders made terrible mistakes but Gorbachevs reforms
were just over too much. In the end it all lead to further liberal reforms and
to shock therapy which in this particular case could only lead to a prolonged
economic crisis and nothing else.
By the way, have you heard, Bush speaks in favor of Turkey entering EU. I think
it's pure geopolitics. Turkey in NATO automatically gives possibilities to
deploy missiles aimed at russia.
Well I'd really ask you to drop the topic.
I just hope that people are wise enough not to start a nuclear war.
Bumble-Bee
I'm stopping by just for a short moment. I'll have exam pretty soon but I'll be
back to normal after June 26.

See, b-b is quite into the subject.
Yep the symbol is a 2 headed eagle and in Soviet Union it was hammer and
sickle.
Speaking of bears it's only a wide spread western view that we have winter all
year round and bears walk on the streets. No, it's far from that.
I donno what's so specific about Gorvachev. To my mind he's no better that
Yeltsin. After all he started the liberal reforms which led to the demise of the
soviet union. And he made too many concessions to the americans. You after these
'democratic' reforms too many people found themselves with no money to afford
even basic goods.
Surely i can imagine the opinion of cnn. But bear in mind (you like puns you get
them) that americans have their missiles aimed at us, including the city i live
in so we are kind of forced to have our own policy.
I did not know that since our school is an American based school although half
our population is korean
All the history courses I've taken are IGCSE courses which are British
curriculum so most of what I learn are either British or American biased
It is true that schools do lack sources providing more eastern perspective of
the history
Although I may have a western preconception as u mentioned, I still think
Gorbachev was at least somewhat of an admirable leader
From what i've seen(Once again I may not have the full picture studying from
IGCSE books), economy didnt seem any better under Kruschev or Brezhnev funding
all those Arab onslaughts against Israel which eventually failed almost every
time
I dont know if you heard about this one but there's a joke about Brezhnev where
he shows his mother all his abundance and she responds and says ""I'm
worried, Leonid, what's gonna happen to us now if the Communists ever come
back?"
Of course political reform does bring havoc and chaos and all that
But by Gorbachev coming into power, the eastern european countries were
liberated as well
That may have been a big loss for Russia but to Eastern Europe I believe that
was liberation from the Soviet influence
Oh yes so true
Must agree on that one though
The US does have missle pointed every direction
They have who knows how many missiles they made since the last 60 years and
they're telling North Korea to stop production of nukes
Quite hypocritical in a sense
Orf: Hello destroyer of worlds and the lord of banana cream pie
Tenko: Hisashiburidane....
I'm alive
exal: u shud write a story or draw pictures or something..... I've been doing
nothing but studying and watching anime..... and eating and
sleeping....

b-b: no it's just that everybody's afraid of you b-b....
u shud really change ur avatar or else you'll scare everyone away before the end
of this year
Grrr..... I overslept...
Couldn't watch the match between Germany and Portugal.
Was it a good match?
vatican92
You're right there's always a chance but apparently this time russian team will be against heavy odds.
And unfortunately I dont remember what was going on back in 2002. I was most likely deep into studies with hardly any time left to watch tv.
Well you never know
It's like how people were so apalled when the almighty France lost to Senegal in opening match of 2002 world cup
vatican92
Oh that pretty bad they didn't show it. They played good.
But Holland it's like all is decided. The didn't lose a match so far.
Cool so Russia won.... but the bad news is that they'll be facing Holland next

It's now or never!
It's tough, but I think the chance is 50:50.

I dont think she'll be scared...... that easily
I wish I could watch Euro 2008 but they dont show much football in this country.....
But personally rooting for the Netherlands...
Vatichan: Yup, we should stop talking 'but war... Otherwise liz will be scared to come here.
Tenko: But did you realize 1-week gap between nikorai's post, mine, and orpheuz'?
nikorai: Heya, do you watch EURO 2008? Looks like your country will be having a hard time dealing with Sweden...
Yo, B-B: Good to hear you're still going strong. I've been a little lonely myself. Haha. But yeah, sorry for disappearing all of a sudden. Got caught up with my life and keeping myself pretty busy. I think everyone is these days.
