I watched the cartoons for the DC heroes when I was younger, but pretty much the
only contact I've had with Marvel would be the commercials for the movies.

Well, there's Black Vulcan (I think) and if yo watched the show, Static Shock. I'm not sure if it's in any universe of comics though.
