*yawn* getting sleepy -.-

Hi, I'd like to join this group.
I have nothing against ecchi, but I think it is far too frequently used and sometimes also prevents me from choosing a wallpaper, since I have to use my laptop in school and ecchi wallpapers aren't really appreciated there (actually all male teachers would stand behind me, blushing and staring at my desktop^^).
But as long it is justifiedly used (not like, for instance, in Elfen Lied o.O) I have no problems with it.

Quote by CelticmoonRAfter all, it is probably impossible to really stop 'ecchi appreciation' completely - it is too inherent in human nature. But perhaps it can be addressed in other ways, such as this.

Haha...yeah. It'd be like trying to eliminate corruption or oppression...it will always be there, maybe just in different degrees of existence...
About the fav distinctions...I don't really know...if that were so, then there'd be a lot of entries in the "ecchi favorites" for a lot of members...lol. It'd be for the admin to decide, I think...

Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To correct the saying, I'd say it's in the mind of the beholder...actions are true, but thoughts are...uh..."truer". ^^ Good point though, shijiroken.

Hellooo, I would like to join this clan..and yeah I know that I'm a member of femal ecchi group! LOL I swear..some pictures I like..but I don't think that it should be tooooo much!
so lol...could I join this group! I swear ...I'm not a pervert ^^

Hm, that is correct - the assessment is relative. However, some people might be quite aware that they are favoriting a work simply because it is ecchi rather on the basis of it's artistic value (in the their eyes). Some of these people might like to have that distinction taken into account when they +fav. By creating distinct favorite categories, this distinction could be taken into account.
It seems that this would both allow those who want ecchi to continue having it, but also even the playing field for those interested in creating work of more artistic value.

it is up to the person who see's the wallpapers/scans like ecchi or something if this one could be called art or just a vulgar and explicit scan.. it is like watching a porn/ hentai movie whether you can call it an art or a masterpiece... but for conclusion, eventhough we had our own perceptions and thoughts about this sort of things, like I said earlier, it is up to the person who see's these stuff if he/she will think that this wallpaper/scans(ecchi) is an art/masterpiece or just a plain disgusting ecchi, right? aslo, if he/she will morelikely urge his drives for his own bodyheat( you know what I mean, right?) he/she will definitely see this scan/images/wallpapers/movies as a porn/ecchi, eventhough he will said to others that "for the sake of art" or "this is an art".... you know. a mouth talk is not always true, actions are true...

Hello, I don't really have a problem with ecchi being in MT, per se; but it does seem like perhaps there should be some sort of delineation between 'favorites' categories: ie, categories being 1. Artistic Favorite and 2. Ecchi Favorite. [maybe others, too? These seem to be the main drives leading people to choose favorites, however.]

It doesn't really seem fair to have artists trying to compete with ecchi, they are really separate categories. I don't know what the further ramifications of the different categories should be, though. Perhaps you would like to discuss that.

After all, it is probably impossible to really stop 'ecchi appreciation' completely - it is too inherent in human nature. But perhaps it can be addressed in other ways, such as this.

What do you think? Is this a good idea? How could this be implemented?

hi can i join this group! i am SO sick of fanservice. it's ruining good animes!

Quote by vietgurl5593do you know wat i was thinking? i was wondering why do ppl see ecchi so appealing?

Well, shijiroken's kinda right...humans (and animals, for that matter) have sexual drives. It's as normal as, say, eating or breathing...yeah, I did say that right...it's ultimately for the propagation of species.

Note: I'm taking that point from a medical and psychological perspective...hope I'm not offending anyone... :)

Anyways, I think it all boils down to the culture and what human society has become. People have needs and wants, as well as the means to satisfy those needs (aka technology). While it shouldn't be a problem, it turned out that society as a whole has become more...lax in its morals...what was considered unbelievable and obscene then is now rather commonplace (look at, for example, movies, music...heck, just at popular females' bathing suits of the 50's or so and compare them to ones now! Big difference...and it's going in one direction...). It could be that a lot of humans are "devolving" to a more primal state, after having reached their zenith a couple of generations back...rather radical, and blown out of proportion, but it's something to think about... ^^

The result? Not really positive, from what's been happening...ecchi being just one of the effects. Though many people take it as an "art", there are also a lot of selfish individuals who take things to whole new levels...utterly disgusting.

Oh...now I'm the one posting extensively... ^^ hehe...sorry. Anyway, that's what I think...

Hey, it kinda looks like a post one would see in OoR, huh, shinsengumi? ^^ Anyways, good day to all. ^^

There comes a time when one must step down and now is that time for me.

I would like to be removed from the ecchi group.

I'm trying to cut down the groups that I haven't really participated in or really do anything with, though I think the concept behind the anti-ecchi club is great and no worries, I'm leaving the ecchi club as well, I think its just time to start trimming my groups list and I realize that aside from when this group first started up, I haven't been here.

Thanks.

you're right... is there any point that ecchi is appealing or good?? maybe it is an instinct of humans to love those kind of stuff... they've got tons of egos in the perspective of they're drives(for those who love ecchi and hentai....

do you know wat i was thinking? i was wondering why do ppl see ecchi so appealing?

what kind of sick bastard would write loli thats just sick O.O and hentai is bad because its like watching your child haveing sex, i just want someone to know, that i think that, and loli is about the worst thing there could possibly be, sick bastards writing hentai (sorri for the language)

Quote by ArchspectreHey guys! Thanks for adding me to the group. Shinsengumi and Celessa,
what do you think of ecchi or hentai? Do you think it goes a little too
far or it should not even be around?

Ahh - For me, my approach to hentai is simple over here. It should not really exist on the Internet, and period. I not only find hentai to be ultimately gross, but to think about it, I would not want any child to see what could visually be drawn as disturbing, ultimately degrading [to the female gender included], and perhaps even insulting to our society today. I mean, on television advertisements, they sense there is a feel or a need to promote sexual awareness to stimulate and draw its audience closer to paying attention to its products, but I myself find that once it reaches pornography, it definitely goes a little too far, and I'm sure many would agree on that point. I don't watch television, by the way, of course. **Nods** So I'm not too sure of what commercials to criticize then and there, and no one would be that crazy to post pornography on a commerical, that's for sure.

For ecchi - although I lean definitely more towards the non-ecchi criteria and believe it's not right for me at all [I prefer some well-clothed attire to being the ultimate form of fashion taste in my preference over here], I would not mind much to see people bearing off "extra skin" by showing parts of the belly, the shoulders, and the sorts. However, I would consider ecchi too far if it only is shown to express sexual gratification purposes rather than a form of art, as its sole purpose - hence the overwhelming "turn on experience" over here. Even to me, I think bearing a nipple is way too far out of my league, even for artistic purposes and should be wiped off the gallery, and pronto, in my opinion. Give that image a little free opening to submission, and you will have galleries filled with them. That is not how I want to see in a gallery - artistic images bearing nipples. It just grosses me out.

Panty shots - are okay depending on the nature that it is drawn, but I hate when the picture only reveals that shot in particular as if that was the main thing to draw your attention to, as if it was the center piece. I am not an anime fan here, and I don't know anime at all, but when I see shots like that, I just feel it isn't right, but the public wants what the public gets, really. I don't like to see it go too far at all.

I do not wish to express my final views and opinions on ecchi in this matter, because I actually am against ecchi purely as a whole, myself. However, I am indeed tolerable of it. I suppose my long post could have been brief instead, but I just wanted to show a few concerns about ecchi and say that I do dislike it, but I accept its light nature at the same time as a whole. Like I said before, ecchi scans presently shown solely for pure sexual gratification purposes is a no-no to me.

Well then, back to eating instant ramen! **Chomps away**

Quote by ArchspectreHey guys! Thanks for adding me to the group. Shinsengumi and Celessa, what do you think of ecchi or hentai? Do you think it goes a little too far or it should not even be around? I've also recently heard of this type of manga/anime called loli or lolicon (child hentai). I can't believe they don't ban it in Japan and that you can buy it in stores!

I find all pornography, hentai included, to be depraved and disgusting, but as I abhor censorship, neither do I want it eliminated entirely. Ecchi, on the other hand, can be an excellent tool for creating comic situations in the hands of a skillful artist or animator. The problem is that not only is there too much of it, but more often than not, it simply gets out of hand.

Take the galleries for example. If a submission has a girl in some state of undress, regardless of quality it will immediately begin to accumulate favorites, while works of much higher quality and which required much more effort will often languish, neglected, on subsequent pages.

This is, of course, just my opinion and it does not necessarily reflect the views of Celessa or the group as a whole :)

I've considered myself rather paradoxical, but recently, I've been doing a lot of soul-searching. Took me all of two weeks, but I've finally decided to turn over a new leaf.

Before, I was rather indifferent to ecchi, among other things (too many to mention), but after really thinking things over with myself, I found that it really wasn't something that could lead to any good, especially the more (rampant) vulgar ones. They're all the same anyway, no matter how you look at it. Now I say: move over, paradox; there's truth to uphold and morals to adhere to. ^^ Needless to say, there are gonna be a lot of changes for me, even here in MT.

Whew...got that off my chest. ^^ Instead of 110%, support for this group is now up to 190% and climbing fast! Once again, I appreciate the admin of this group, as well as all those who join wholeheartedly.

Good day to you all. ^^

Thanks for letting us know, gilesaquil. . . that's so great to hear!
