I've only watched the series twice and that was a while ago but here's what i
remember (and what i concluded (i think most conclusions COULD be
correct)).
Two things need to be remembered, yukito was willing to sacrifice his life to
save Misuzu. Second thing is that misuzu loved the crow sora, as he could fly
higher than any other crow and if i remember right that one day she wished she
would be able to fly away with him. Yukito wanted to help misuzu live but by
being with her he was making her suffer, as she suffered with the ones she
loved.
By sacrificing himself and turning to the crow he was able to be by her side
without causing her pain and suffering (it also offers a fresh perspective on
certain scenes) and it also granted him the ability to fly up into the sky, i
concluded this was symbolic of him taking misuzus soul to the sky later on and
also gave him the chance to search for the girl in the sky (kanna).
I'ld need to watch the series again to ensure what i just wrote doesn't have any
flaws. This is probably the most asked question in AIR and in time we're going
to put up a FAQ which hopefully will throughly cover this and many other things
so any opinions are greatly accepted.
I think i'll also add here for what angelkate said. Being a guy i've naturally
become fairly de-sensitised and find myself incapable of crying (unless it's
severe pain). It's not that i don't want to cry, sometimes i wish i could but i
just don't. I think the ending to AIR was the closest i've ever been to crying
from emotonal overload :P
The movie however, i have seen many times now and i agree with you moonelf, i
prefered that version. I loved the romance in the movie especially, but the real
thing that caught me was the story of Kanna and Ryuuya. It was different to the
series but i found it much more entrancing. I loved their story so much that i
extracted it and wrote the story of it. It's in my signature, or just click AIR: A
Story Of Two Lovers It took me a long time to do so if you can be bothered
reading it be nice please :P
On an end note preparation for the competition are coming along nicely and we
wish Unicorn2006 a nice little break, hopefully we will be able to announce and
open the competition within 3 weeks once Unicorn arrives back with us.
I actually liked the movie a bit better than the show...I think its because
Yukito and Misuzu have more of a relationship and it soley focuses on them...I
love romance~! I
never understood Yukito turning into a crow(in the TV show). Does anyone else
understand that?
So for the contest we would just be making anything related to AIR...or is it
more complex. Like a speific theme or time in the show. Example:u can only do a
dark/sad themed wallpaper or poem that has something to do with the death of the
"winged people". lol i do have to a agree with ppl about how quiet
this group is.
Welcome to our newest members! The group has been rather inactive for a while,
and we're thinking about holding another AIR-related contest. This time though,
we will probably include a literary component. So we're thinking stories, poems,
and/or artwork.

anywayz my favourite part is the summer part
and my favourite character is kanna she's cute
Check this one out- very
very "Awww!" Somebody that has far more graphic skills than I do might
be able to extract some of it and do a "bed-time" type wall. But it
also looks very nice on its own!
For anybody that takes it, comments are very much appreciated, I did work about
3 hours on this thing and went to bed at 7 in the morning.

Hi all, if found AIR to just and all around goooood anime. The story is deep.
the art is very well done, it's funny from time-to-time is able to stay serious.
The music is really good, i went out of my way and found the OST, i don't do
that for many shows that i see. I love the charactors and i enjoy how each one
of them hd a darker side to them that wasn't easy to recognize untill after they
talked about it. I've seen the series and the moive...odly though the art in the
series was better than the movie....
AIR is a great game in my mind. beautiful CG and sentimental
story. If you really enjoy in this game or cartoon, you will find it can bring
more and more new ideas for world, people. Meanwhile, AIR's music also can be
prepossessing by hearing Lia' sound !

I finally watched the AIR movie yesterday. It was good. I liked a few things in the TV version more and some things in the movie more.
